Owen Hargreaves appears to have suffered a further setback in his recovery from tendinitis.
Hargreaves has been recovering from operations on both knees in an attempt to cure the injury problems that have plagued him since he joined United. It had been hoped that the England international would have been available for the start of the new season, but it is being reported in The Times that it may be as long as January before he is able to return to action.
Hargreaves is hopeful of being able to start light training at the very least in August, but if his injury woes persist, it's difficult to see much of a future for him at the club. Ronny Johnson, a great servant to the club saw his tenure ended due to his battered knees, and whilst it would be sad to see a repeat, in the long run, it might be better for both parties.
Hopefully though, the caution will pay off, and Hargreaves problems will be left behind him come January. United certainly miss him, and Ferguson appears to be able to resist jumping into the transfer market for now, prefering to give Hargreaves time to prove himself. United fans will certainly hope that faith is not misplaced.
